Top 5 Questions For Dr. Schwarz

1) Can I get more than one procedure done at the same time?

It may be possible to have two or more procedures at the same time, but it depends on your requests. It is ideal to combine procedures that involve body parts in close proximity, such as a rhinoplasty and a facelift. However, other procedures are more difficult to combine. For example, combining a Brazilian Butt Lift and breast augmentation in one surgery is not usually recommended because of the potential for complications and a challenging recovery period.

2) How do I prepare for plastic surgery?

Typically, preparing for surgery begins weeks in advance and focuses on maintaining or improving a healthy lifestyle — a healthy patient will experience a faster and easier recovery. It is best to discontinue smoking and herbal supplements a few weeks before your surgery. Talk to Dr.  Schwartz before discontinuing any prescribed medications, though. It is also important to wear comfortable clothing and to arrange transportation to and from the clinic. You should also anticipate the needs you will have in the days following the operation. This usually involves rearranging important items to be easily within reach, such as pain medication, other prescription drugs, and water. Consider how you would like to spend your time in the days following your operation —  prioritize whatever activities help you to relax and put you in a good frame of mind.

3) How long will I have to stay at the clinic after my operation?

Out-patient surgery or ‘same-day surgery’ means you arrive and depart the clinic on the same day as your operation. It is safe, effective, and preferred by many patients. However, an overnight stay might be ideal for certain patients with unique circumstances. Some examples of typical out-patient procedures are liposuction, breast augmentation, and facial cosmetic surgery. You will find out during your consultation if you are a good candidate for out-patient surgery.

4) How long will it be before I recover from a breast augmentation or a rhinoplasty?

The length of time that is typical for full recovery varies from procedure to procedure and from patient to patient.  A popular procedure at Clinique K is breast augmentation. Patients can expect to return to work about 10 – 14 days after surgery, and fully resume regular life activities after about six weeks — approximately the same time that the final results are realized. In comparison, making a full return to normal activities after a rhinoplasty usually takes three weeks, but it can take up to one year before the final results are fully realized.

5) What can I do to make sure I achieve the best results from my surgery?

It takes two to ensure the best results from your surgery; you and your surgeon. A patient must be in good physical health before the operation. It is also equally important for the patient to be well informed and feel confident about the decision they are making. Choosing a surgeon with the right expertise and experience will be the most important factor in determining the outcome of cosmetic surgery. Approaching your relationship with Dr. Schwarz with openness and honesty will be mutually beneficial in determining the best way to approach your procedure.  Before and after photographs of real patients are a great indicator of a surgeon’s experience and expertise.
