As men age, the skin of the face slowly begins to sag and areas can appear shadowy and hollow. Fillers like Restylane and Juvederm are one way to help diminish wrinkles and increase facial fullness. A permanent option is fat injection. Fat is harvested from your own body and then re-injected into the face to fill creases and build up shallow contours.
What can I expect?
Fat injection requires a more extensive procedure than soft tissue fillers like Restylane or Juvederm. Liposuction is performed to extract the fat from the areas of the patient's choice.The fat is then purified and injected into their face. While most of the fat usually survives, it is a less predictable procedure compared to fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. Sometimes multiple procedures are needed to achieve the desired results.
There is also some discomfort in the donor areas that should be discussed with your surgeon.
